WALLINGFORD - Hurricane Recovery - Parking Ban is still in effect

This is not so much “are they enforcing it” (because we all know historically they do not) but rather “if you ARE actually towed – here’s why”

A parking ban remains in effect in the Town of Wallingford on Tuesday, August 30, 2011.

The ban is necessary to facilitate the efficient and safe restoration of public utilities.

No vehicle shall be parked or allowed to remain on any public street while the ban is in effect.

Vehicles found to be in violation of the ban will be tagged and towed at the owner's expense. The parking ban will remain in effect until further notice.

WALLINGFORD - Parking Ban in Effect UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Under the Municipal Parking Ordinance, the Chief of Police is authorized to declare a parking ban to facilitate the removal of snow and maintain the safe flow of traffic on town streets.

Due to excessive snow and the need to widen Town roads, the PARKING BAN WILL REMAIN IN EFFECT INDEFINITELY.

It is important to note that the parking ban will remain in effect until it is publicly lifted and NOT when the snow is removed from any particular street location.

IMPORTANT:   Vehicles found to be in violation of the parking ban will be ticketed and towed.

Parking bans in Meriden and Wallingford still in effect

Police in Meriden and Wallingford said early Monday parking bans in both municipalities are still in effect until further notice.

Public Works crews in both communities worked over the weekend to widen streets and clear snow in advance of a storm predicted to hit Tuesday into Wednesday.

Both municipalities have issued dozens of parking violation tickets as the snow began to pile up from several storms earlier in the month. Residents risk a ticket and having their vehicles towed at their own expense if they park on the street with the bans in place.
